GGS is proud to share that it has become a founding member of the Environmental Industries Association. The EIA has been set up with the key objective to raise awareness on environmental issues and has just been launched at the Contaminated Land and Remediation Trade Show at the NEC in Birmingham. The major objective of the EIA is to raise awareness on environmental issues through media exposure and through lobbying policy makers in government. Now, issues surrounding the environment and sustainability are not discussed enough in the mainstream. With a vision to bring together different voices who have expertise in their fields, the EIA will shine a light on these topics and bring more attention to them.
More industry exposure for member organisations is also at the forefront of the association. If relevant environmental issues need to be raised or addressed in the public domain, the EIA plans to be the main voice of environmental professionals.
As a team of geo-environmental scientists, it is important for GGS to be a part of this initiative. Through the work the company does on ground gas contamination issues, it is actively involved in improving sustainability, managing greenhouse gas emissions and protectingĀ people.Ā GGS and its team of experts look forward to actively supporting the EIA and making a difference. On the 11th of September many industry experts and leaders came together for the Contaminated Land Conference at the ESS Expo. This was the perfect opportunity to raise awareness on topics and share the news of the EIA launching.
From GGS, Simon, John and JM attended the launch event which was followed by a networking event hosted by the EIA at the Contaminated Land and Remediation Trade Show. It was a great chance for all the founding members to connect with like-minded industry professionals and celebrate the launch of the EIA.
Behind the scenes, the EIA have been working towards the launch of the association. Over the past few months, they have been getting everything set up including setting up the first meeting date which will take place in London in early November in tandem with the meeting for the Remediation of Soils and Groundwater.
The EIA will also be attending the Air Quality and Emissions show at the NEC on the 9th and 10th of October which is an event dedicated to instrumentation and services for air quality emissions monitoring. The EIA will be a co-chair on the second day of the event which will further raise awareness.
