A review of Piling and Penetrative Ground Improvement Methods on Land Affected by Contamination: Guidance on Pollution Prevention, CL:AIRE, March 2025

Just last month CLAI:RE published a new guidance document. Piling and Penetrative Ground Improvement Methods on Land Affected by Contamination: Guidance on Pollution Prevention was released in March.

Our Managing Director, Simon Talbot has produced a review of the guidance document in respect of its relevance to ground gas issues and includes comments and analysis of the key aspects that are outlined in the document.

Quote from the document, authored by Simon Talbot at GGS at GGS:

“This document improves the understanding of the potential contamination issues associated with piling and ground improvement techniques.  However, I would apply ‘the precautionary principle’ and not assume quality control and good professional practice is always in place.”
