In this GGS guidance document, we are exploring radon in the workplace and the duties of employers Under the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017.
In this short guidance document we will explore these regulations, understanding radon and radon levels. We also outline all of the different responsibilities you may have as an employer and how you can address and mitigate radon risk in your workplace. Download the document here.
In the UK the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 were established to protect workers from the harmful effects of ionisation radiation. Radon is included and poses a significant risk to health when accumulated in workplace environments.
In this short guidance document we will explore these regulations, understanding radon and radon levels. We also outline all of the different responsibilities you may have as an employer and how you can address and mitigate radon risk in your workplace.
Quote from the document, authored by John Naylor, Technical Director at GGS:
“Unless you have carried out radon testing, you can never be confident of the radon levels.
Employers should carry out a radon risk assessment and suitable conduct radon investigations at “any workplace where its location and characteristics suggest that elevated levels may be found and significant exposures to employees and/or other persons are possible.”
The following pages include news articles, videos, guidance notes and white papers on a range of ground gas related topics which we hope you will find of interest. Please browse through but if you can’t find something on your particular issue of interest, we’d be very pleased to hear from you so we can put that right.
At GGS we aim to be at the forefront of conversations when it comes to all areas of ground gas science, including the indoor air quality environment.
Recognizing that soil gases can and do contribute to internal air quality, we are pleased to be involved in the GO AQS initiative.
What exactly is this initiative and why are we championing it here at GGS? Find out more here.
